“It is a great program. It was a learning experience for my children; they realized the struggle and that there was a light at the end. It’s a positive program if you are willing to move forward.”
– Tasha, a former guest, who successfully completed the program and is now living independently with her three daughters

“I was willing to do whatever it took to have a better life for me and my daughter Melody. The staff is a big help. The churches and volunteers are nice. In each church you learn something. The volunteers get involved and care about folks.”
– Jennifer, former guest

“I enjoy working with the people and watching them make progress and then stand alone. It is inspiring to see them manage to make this work.”
– Liz, a volunteer since 1990 and coordinator at a Bryn Mawr congregation

“The greatest satisfaction of volunteering for IHN-ML is helping those in need gain/regain self-sufficiency and their dignity.”
– Jim a volunteer

Energy and Focus Lead to Success

Tasha, a 35-year-old woman with three little girls (ages 6, 8, 10) came to the qualifying interview for IHN-Main Line. She explained that she and her daughters had been living with her mother. When her mother became physically disabled, she needed to move to a more physically-adapted apartment. Her mother’s new apartment could not accommodate Tasha and her three growing girls.

Tasha was in need of a fresh start. She had dreams of higher education and homeownership. She had put herself through hair school but now had her sights set on nursing school. She entered IHN-Main Line with a positive outlook and focused her energy on her goals. She worked hard in the program, made many networking connections and friends along the way. A testament to her attitude and care, Tasha’s children are best remembered as the “smiley” ones who were always happy and helpful while enrolled in the Network.

Tasha was accepted into Transitional Housing, a two-year IHN program in Ambler, PA, which gave her time to apply to colleges and work full-time.

She has applied for a Habitat for Humanities home and is looking forward to attending Eastern University's LPN Program.

Tasha has been a great inspiration to all of our families. We know she will be very successful in all that she does.
